Social Evidence and Skills Assessment
Our cloud-based, talent sourcing and skills assessment platform helps companies find and evaluate hidden technology candidates that can't be found using traditional sources. We do this through something we call Social Evidence.
What is Social Evidence
Social Evidence is the crowd-based validation of skills generated from a candidate's interaction on top, industry-specific online communities like GitHub, StackOverflow, and Dribbble. It goes beyond volume to hone in on the meaningful contributions candidates offer to showcase their expertise. Repeatedly posting on social media sites about a subject doesn't mean you understand it. But if numerous individuals vote up your answers to industry-specific questions, this indicates you know what you're talking about--that's Social Evidence.
Social Evidence: How Does It Work?
Our Social Evidence is based off of a unique algorithm, which analyzes a candidate's community-based, online contributions and interactions to gain insight into their skill sets. Members of these communities and niche social media sites present their expertise and knowledge to peers who can review and approve their contributions. This is done through likes, votes of approval, and number of followers.
Social Evidence works by aggregating these implicit endorsements of a candidate’s know-how across dozens of such websites into one unified profile. Candidates are then ranked by their expertise in each individual skill, as evidenced by their contributions to each skill-based social contribution community.
Why Is Social Evidence Important To The Hiring Process?
Finding remarkable talent is challenging, especially when the best candidates often aren't actively seeking employment. Employers no longer have to rely solely on resumes, portfolios, and other biased materials, to gain candidate insight. Social Evidence acts as an alternative and more effective means of finding and evaluating talent by gaining insight regarding the best tech candidates through their contributions to and participation in industry-specific online communities.
The candidate insight generated through Social Evidence provides a 360-degree view of a candidate by including a scored, detailed list of demonstrated skills, as well as a bio, contact information, and links to a candidate's online profiles.
Social Evidence And Skills Assessment
Assessing the skill sets of potential talent is essential to the hiring process. However, more traditional employee skills assessment products are often costly and time-consuming because they require candidates to complete a test.
When doing a skills assessment, resumes are often flawed due to precise manipulation to fit a position. While resumes and portfolios are great foundation pieces for learning more about the competency of a hire, peer-endorsed skill recommendations are the best indicators of actual potential. Social Evidence eliminates the burden of pre-employment tests and resume falsities by mining social data from online communities to provide an unbiased skills assessment.
